School of Hearthcraft: Objects of Desire

Over the past six years, I have spent thousands of hours working with hundreds of people to reclaim their home from clutter. A theme emerged: objects are not just objects, they are objects of desire. Meaning, objects become a placeholder for our unprocessed emotions and unfulfilled longing. Not only does it become difficult to let things go (because to do so feels like we are letting go of the feelings or dreams), it becomes tempting to bring objects into our home in lieu of other ways to fulfill our longing. This is not a result of personal weakness, but an effect of living in a consumer culture that robs us of our right to source fulfillment and contentment in healthy ways, and then sells us representational objects to fill the void.

Join me on November 28th (the day after Black Friday) to examine how we can transform objects of desire into icons of desire, reclaim our home from the hungry ghosts of consumerism, and begin to ignite small rebellions through sourcing true fulfillment. Register here.
